Diary of a Dominatrix: Story of a Girl
The comic I read was "Diary of a Dominatrix" by Molly Kiely.
It was...interesting, to say the least. From just an art perspective, it was very well drawn, and the simplistic use of black and white with selective cross hatching to indicate grays was extremely inventive and well done. Beyond art, the story was an interesting read because of the way it humanizes a frankly dehumanizing profession by design. Zelda herself talks about it, how she wants to remain mysterious, an idea of a person rather than who she is around her clients.
Even in professions outside of the sex industry, there is a sort of expectation to be another person when you're at your job. People who you've served or worked with at your job will see you outside of it and there is a sort of awkwardness to the interaction because they're coming to the realization that you are in fact a person outside of your profession. Because she works in a field as intimate as sex, this effect is magnified ten fold, and becomes a huge part of her life. It's all very humanizing, and something that I think was an interesting read to understand the ins and outs of just a regular woman's life.
