Eisner Emotions

Comics, as they stand today, are an art form without borders. With the use of self publishing anyone can get their vision realized, industry standard or not. But in the time Eisner worked and revolutionized comics, there was a sort of expectation of the comic and what it was supposed to look like. In this era, he took on a more expressive approach with his own style of drawing, and with it created an entirely new feeling.

Not only are his expressions on another level, his panel placement and arrangement has a sort of freedom and levity to it that makes the storytelling far more engaging than some more structured formats I've seen in comics. I found the way he presents his narratives to be interesting and consistent with the tone. It personally connects with me because I do find such interest in things i haven't seen before in a medium that tends to get stale in its repetition.

He also inspired me with his story. Because who truly doesn't feel the struggle of believing you don't quite meet the level of what you aspire to be? Not a good enough artist to get in galleries, and not a good enough writer to craft a novel. To see someone who didn't believe in his abilities succeed in both is an inspiration.
